Panchayat Season 4 - Honest Review

Ok. So I finished watching Panchayat season 4. Honestly, I was so excited for this one as it was the most awaited season after the last episode of the third season. If you remember, Vidhayak and Panchayat people were detained in the police station. The series had left us guessing and I was like Bhai, season 4 I want to watch on day 1. And honestly, yes I did. I started watching the season on the day it got released.

Season 4 has total 8 episodes. It took me 3 days honestly as it failed to keep me hooked throughout. The previous seasons were so much better. When I say much better, it means much much much better!.

I was hoping for the best fight between Vidhayak and Pradhanji. Instead elections were shown. I was not expecting this. I was expecting some Panchayat drama and unity.

The story does not have continuity at all. I don't know why and how the story was losing the continuity and the thread of events. Events had no connection. All 8 episodes are based on just elections.

No doubt, our Abhishek Bhai was mind-blowing in his role but somewhere I felt he wasn't given much screen time. He deserves more screentime and dialogues. This time his dialogues were not at all catchy or witty. His role was not given much importance. I was sad to see this.

The storyline, this time, is very messy and all over the place. (Sorry spoiler alert) Manju Devi's father's arrival was not required and I have no clue why he was even brought into the picture. That part was fully a waste of time. He was not given importance then why was he even there? He left the village (maybe) because later on he has disappeared from the series.

Slowly, Panchayat franchise is losing its core baseline like Housefull. We know now Housefull 5 was a disaster khichadi. I will review that movie later because I need to get over what I watched in the theatre. I have purely wasted my money and I need 5 business days to get over that regret. Okay so moving on..

I was devastated when Bhusan ji won the elections out of the blue. And series then soon ended. I mean why? Why was this not a Finale? Because clearly Panchayat needs to stop the story on a good note. Instead they have extended it keeping users on their toes all the time and then delivering a messy storyline.

In the last episode, Rinky and Vidhayak's daughter fight for absolute no reason or you can say silly reason. The scene was absolutely not required in the series.

On the other hand, where I thought I could rely on Abhishek's maturity, Abhishek is falling in love and showing his smartness throughout the series by just running behind Rinky all the time. Honestly that's cute but not in all 8 episodes.

He is not seen being serious about the elections or work or even MBA until episode 7.

In one of the episodes, he says I will leave the position if Manju Devi doesn't win the elections. And at the end he says he is going to stay for 3-4 months holding the position. And he has also said that he will now leave the village to find better college. I mean what are you conveying, Director?

Noone is shown taking up the stand for the elections for Manju Devi. The season just showed promoting Manju Devi in episode 4 or 5 when Manju Devis Father arrive in the village. Nobody has been active throughout the series.

I have respect for Bhusan as his character has been active since day 1 of the series. I felt other characters in the story are not that active and expressive. Bhusan has taken a lot of efforts for his elections (that's how elections should work).

I am rating the series - 5.5/10. Maza nahi aaya mereko! Sorry! Extra 0.5 because I like Abhishek as an actor. I know he will be given better screentime next time.

I don't know what you felt, I am open for your comments and suggestions.

Every person's perspective and expectation is different.

Let me know what are your thoughts on Panchayat Season 4?

By the way, the series is available on Amazon Prime Video.

Waiting for your comments. Byeeeeee!!!

  1. Hi, I really enjoyed reading your blog. I get your frustration, and I know a lot of people feel the same way. For me, though, this season had a different kind of importance and was a bit of a slow burn.

For example, Manju Devi's father's scene might seem small, but I think he was there to give us a clue about what's next. The writers might have also included the older actor as a tribute to him and the other actors from NSD.

The last season ended with a hint about elections, so it made sense for this one to be about that. Abhishek's mixed feelings about Rinky and his career felt intentional—it showed how his heart and his mind were at war. I think this season was meant to be a setup, so the next one will feel even more satisfying.

Just my two cents as a huge fan!
